4 Scrum Methods to Boost Productivity in Your Everyday Life

Time is one of those things we have absolutely no control over. We only get 24 hours in every day, and when you factor in 8 hours of sleep, you are only left with 16 hours to work with.

Life has obligations other than just work. There’s cooking, daily chores, taking care of kids or pets, house projects, and other responsibilities.

Keeping track of life’s tasks is hard, yet for some reason, it’s relatively easy for most of us to keep track of our daily tasks at work.

Especially for those of us who are in the product development world, we have become so accustomed to working with project managers or Scrum masters and being held accountable for our tasks.

After I started applying Scrum principles to my everyday life, my duties became automated and I noticed my tasks were getting done in a shorter period of time.

Because these things worked so well for me, I wanted to share four easy ways to apply Scrum to your everyday life, as well as give you some great examples and ideas that will help you manage your time better, just like you would at work.

Visualize your task list

We’ve all seen the infamous Scrum board before, many of us still have them in our offices. There’s a reason a lot of teams still use these and haven’t completely switched to digital boards.

Having a consistent visual reminder that you have a bunch of tasks on your plate with ticking deadlines is a really great way to stay on track.

Guilt is a really powerful emotion, and nothing gets you moving as guilt does. It’s a double-edged sword though, you definitely want to make sure you have some guilt-free rest time, but if you are reading this article you likely need help with productivity, not burn-out.

Thanks for the link for the free scrum board. I also believe a lot of things from the tech-world can be adapted into other areas of life. I write about similar things.
