For the new Model S, Tesla has opted for a horizontal screen as in the Model 3 and in the Model Y, but it has gone a step further, giving the user the opportunity to configure the layout to their preference.

It is possible that this customization decision was made after listening to the comments of many of its users with the last update in which the map had been reduced and the vehicle in driving mode took up more space on the screen. It’s an evolution that is sure to make Tesla drivers very happy by offering the ability to choose how they want to view the different sections of their dashboard.

On this occasion, Tesla has presented its fastest model, with really impressive characteristics, but we are going to focus on the moment in which it showed how the new UI will behave. This little Gif shows that it will be fully customizable, because many users found it very static despite being light years away from the interfaces of other vehicle brands of the same range.

Elon announced that this new system, which already has the Plaid model integrated, interacts with the user’s calendar, currently other of its models are synchronized with the calendar, but not in this way. In this new version, when the user gets in the car, they scroll down to navigate and the car will automatically determine if they want to go home, to work, or to the destination that appears on their calendar. That is, if it is a weekday, and the user is at home, he will interpret that he wants to go to work if no other destination appears in an appointment on his calendar. When he starts navigating it automatically checks the traffic and offers him the most optimal route. With this feature, Tesla seeks that the user has a simple and pleasant experience when getting into their vehicle. Of course, all this will be configurable so that the user can benefit from this very comfortable feature without having to press anything.

The UI is basically easy to move around, expand, contract, shift music to the left, to the right… and Musk said they will keep improving it, so it feels like a modern tablet or phone.

And the final surprise… PS5 level performance

Musk commented on the ps5 level performance:

There’s never been a car that has state of the art computing technology, state of the art infotainment, and this is literally at the level of a playstation 5. So if you think about the future where the car is often in autopilot or full self-driving mode, then entertainment is going to become increasingly important, so you’re going to want to watch movies, play games, use the internet, then, things you want to do if you’re not driving. Yes, it can play cyberpunk

In conclusion

Tesla continues to define its products towards the idea of users that in the future, when the laws of each country allow it, they can choose how they want to enjoy the time they spend in their vehicle while traveling in it without driving.
We are getting closer and closer to realities such as those referred to in some series, such as Upload, from Amazon Prime, if you have not watched it, I recommend it;)
