What is Figma

Figma is a design tool for creating websites, applications, CRM systems, and other UX/UI design. Basically all types of design can be created in Figma. F.e., you are able to create marketing assets, branding, illustrations, etc.

Figma is a browser-based UI and UX design application, with excellent design, prototyping, and code options. It has all functionality that UX/UI Designers need and even much more.

Why You Need Figma

As a UX/UI designer, I used Sketch only before with other additional software, such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator (Adobe XD is much late update for all designers). In recent years I realized that Figma works better for me because I can collaborate with other designers and team members.

Figma has a similar interface as Sketch, so if you have experience using Sketch, switching to Figma will be easy for you. It took only a couple of days for me to understand how Figma works and remember basic hotkeys.

Figma vs Sketch

But what unique does Figma have, what I can`t find on Sketch? That is a great question and I have a good answer for it. Figma provides amazing collaboration opportunities.

What I mean by this. Designers get used to uploading and downloading their design versions to online clouds for team collaboration or use other software to manage changes and updates, f.e. Abstract.

But it requires a lot of time, especially if design files are huge. Just imagine uploading and downloading a 100mb file multiple times per day. It is good if you have a great Internet connection, but even with that, it is not an effective way to team collaborate.

If you are a solo designer, Sketch will be still probably the best solution. But if we are talking about a group of designers and even collaboration with developers or marketers, I highly recommend using Figma.
