How to Give Design Feedback Nicely

--

Designers are creative people who put their heart and soul into their work.

So, when you give feedback on a design, it’s important to be respectful and constructive.

If you’re not careful, your feedback could come across as negative which can be hurtful and demoralizing.

But don’t worry, giving good design feedback doesn’t have to be difficult.

By following a few simple tips, you can help designers improve their work without making them feel bad.

#1 Be specific

Instead of saying “I don’t like this,” try to be more specific about what you don’t like and why.

For example, you could say “I think the font is too small and difficult to read” or “The navigation is confusing and I’m not sure how to get to where I want to go.”

It’s also important to start your feedback with something positive.

This shows the designer that you appreciate their work and that you’re not just trying to be negative.

For example, you could say “I really like the overall look of the design. It’s clean and modern” or “I think the illustrations are great. They’re really engaging and eye-catching.”

#2 Avoiding being negative
