Blinkit — & My Experience
I made my first purchase on Blinkit and it arrived like magic.
I have been using Swiggy’s ‘Instamart’ for months and being used to it was something that holded me back from trying any new app. Even after watching so many ads on youTube I never installed Blinkit (unconsciously the 10mins promise felt like a marketing strategy),
But I wanted to give it a try sometime and it finally happened this month (March 2022). I installed Blinkit in hope to get some welcome discounts & offers.
While using it, I couldn’t resist but notice how beautifully some of the Heuristics are applied in the experience :
Aesthetic usability Effect, Doherty threshold & Jacob’s law of familiarity are very much noticeable throughout the Experience (from finding an item, adding it to cart and proceeding to checkout).
In Simple words their in-app experience is clean, smooth & very much familiar for someone like me who was using “Instamart” on a daily basis.

Behind the 10 mins Delivery
I was curious about “How are they managing it”. I did some research to understand how things are moving behind the scenes.
1.Blinkit is making 10 mins delivery possible with the help of Optimised dark stores & dedicated staff working on every order.
Dark stores are more than just a warehouse and they are constantly moving and serving orders.
Due to the strategic location of dark stores, orders can be delivered in 10mins
Blinkit only takes orders which are located within the 2kms distance of these Optimised dark stores .
2.Albinder Dhindsa, CEO and Founder of Blinkit has recently said that the company is doing 1.25 lakh orders daily.
3. As per data, in January Blinkit was executing their 10mins delivery in 12 cities through 250+ stores, and the plan was to take the number of stores to 530.
The CEO Said that “we are building more dark stores every 4 hours”.
All different sorts of reactions are coming from people for the 10-mins delivery, some are happy while others are criticising.
For me disappointing was the huge plastic package in which my order arrived (and every order from Blinkit arrives)
Doing 1.25 lakh orders daily means giving out 1.25 lakh of huge plastic packs everyday which is very unhealthy for the environment.
Well, the new in the list is Zomato’s food delivery, they recently announced their plan for 10min food delivery.
while these fast deliveries are making life easier we must not forget to step out in the open sky 🍃
I hope it was an interesting read! 🥂
