Hi there, I recently watched a video by Mark Manson, where he talks about his life lessons and friends. and I got inspired to write this article.
As a designer navigating the constantly changing world of digital creativity and Digital products.
I often reflect on the journey that brought me here. In my experience, I’ve encountered valuable lessons that have shaped my approach to design and my outlook on life.
Here, I’ll share six life lessons I wish I had known sooner as a Designer.
These are not using lessons that will improve your Design but these lessons will also make you a good human. Let's start:
Take time
Remember, making something great takes time. It’s like painting a beautiful picture — you don’t do it all at once.
Good design comes from trying different things and improving them bit by bit. Don’t be afraid to get feedback and keep making things better.
It’s how you make something excellent.
Design with Empathy
Behind every pixel lies a human story—designed with empathy, seeking to understand your audience's needs, desires, and emotions.
Empathy breeds connection, turning users into loyal advocates.
Don’t be afraid to fail
It’s a natural part of getting better. Failure isn’t the end; it’s a chance to learn and improve.
Take your setbacks as lessons, and let them push you forward in your creative journey.
Work together with others!
Design is at its best when different people come together with their ideas.
Welcome feedback and ideas from your teammates, clients, and the people who will use what you create.
When we collaborate, we can make something amazing that’s more than just one person’s idea.
Remember what’s important
It’s tempting to chase perfection, but sometimes that means forgetting why you’re doing something in the first place.
Focus on the purpose behind your design — how it helps people and improves their lives.
A design that matters goes beyond just looking good.
Keep on learning!
Design is always evolving, so it’s important to keep growing.
Make learning a part of your life, always looking for new things to discover and ways to improve.
Be open to inspiration from various places — sometimes the most innovative ideas come from mixing different fields.
To sum up, being a designer is not just about making cool things — it’s also about growing as a person. If we take these seven lessons to heart, we can confidently tackle design challenges, knowing who we are, what we stand for, and how to bounce back from setbacks.
