UI/UX Design: My BRUTALLY Honest Review of Synthesia and HeyGen
What both platforms get right, where they completely drop the ball, and whether or not you should even consider using them in a production environment.

Overview
Recently I had the…privilege…of testing out two of the largest AI video avatar generators on the market right now: Synthesia and HeyGen.

What follows is the culmination of my escapades as I desperately attempt to cajole them into doing the bare minimum of what they were designed to do.
To that end, today we’ll be covering what both platforms get right, where they completely drop the ball, and whether or not you should even consider using them in a production environment.
Synthesia

Firs up, we’ve got Synthesia, and if I’m being honest, judging a book by its cover, it looks pretty damn good.
The Aesthetic-Usability and Halo Effects are in full-swing here, and it doesn’t take long for the platform to get straight to the offerings with you.
What it gets right
- Generation is usually pretty clean.
- The interface is fairly nice to work with.
- Scripting and voice acting is usually on-point.
For what it is, it actually does a pretty decent job.
