Overview
You’ve done your research, you have some quotes from your users that your team has decided are the key descriptors of pain points, or product features that are the highest priority. Now what?
In this article, we’re going to cover:
- Conceptualizing product ideas from your original thoughts.
- Ideating on those concepts to create a variety of possible solutions, and
- Selecting a winner to move forward with in the design phase.
Conceptualization
At the end of the day, all conceptualization consists of is taking pen (or pencil) to paper and getting the ideas of out your head.
While you are doing this, you want to carefully consider what your users have said and detail your product concepts around these key data points.
If your users said that one of their pain points is not being able to move through the application quickly enough, consider simplifying the sign-up process or reducing the number of starting interactions.

If your users are going to be using your product in bright area, be mindful of contrast; making sure to account for screen glare.
These are all things that have to be considered when conceptualizing a product or service. We have to remember that, while we may have what we think is a good initial idea, we are not our users, and we must create our product based on what our users have said they need and want.
